A new change in lifestyle.

This week has been totally new for me. I've decided to totally quit playing World Of Warcraft. The game just isn't fun for me anymore and I realize I can be doing so much more beneficial things with the time I used to spend on the game.

Yesterday, I actually took the initiative to start working on building a better body. I've always been skinny my whole life, except for when I was a pudgy little baby. At 5'9'', I currently weigh in at 140 pounds. Not a whole heck of a lot. So I did some searching around last night, typing things like "skinny to buff" "workout regiments for skinny" "gaining weight/muscle" kinds of things into google.com and found a really great message board at DaveDraper.com.

Pretty much, the basics to gaining weight/muscle is 4-fold. The first is obvious.
1. Eat A LOT. I'll elaborate more on this later
2. Lift a lot, a lot.
3. Drink plenty of water
4. Get 8+ hours of sleep

I've started on 1 and 3 today. I'm only getting 7 hours of sleep tonight :( and number 2 I'm starting tomorrow with a simple regiment of

Clean and Press 10,8,6
Bent Over Row with Dumbbell 12,10,8
Squat 3x10

I'm not familiar with weightlifting. The only lifting I did was light stuff while doing cross country and track. But that was more on muscle endurance, not muscle strength.

As for the eating, protein is a HUGE part of building muscle. (As I've been reminded in biology this week, proteins are the building blocks of life!) Thus, it's a goal for me to consume 1.25-1.5g x my body weight in proteins. That's around 190-210g of protein a day, folks.

I got started on it today, and these are my totals for the day:

Anyway, I'm excited for this new change in lifestyle. I think it's important to stay healthy and whatnot.

In other news, classes at AVC have been going grandtacular. More on that later this week. Also, pictures from HOBY WLC this week as well.

Peace,

Sidetrack: HeadOn

So by now, most of you are probably familiar with HeadOn, the product that you -say it with me now- apply directly to the forehead. This commercial has been everywhere in the month of August. If you haven't seen it, I venture to say you have been watching little to no TV at all. I watch maybe 2-3 hours of television a week and I've seen this commercial enough times that I probably will never forget it for the rest of my life.

Before I go on, here is the commercial in case you have no clue what I'm talking about:

Okay... so it's about 10 seconds of "HeadOn - Apply Directly to the Forehead" repeated 3 times. At first I though that this had to be the lamest commercial I had ever seen. Upon doing doing some reading about this online, I have found that this type of advertising has proven to be really successful!

A couple things contribute. 1.) Obviously, the repetition. With the same phrase being repeated, you're bound to remember it. 2.) The commercial never says what the product actually does. Thus in curiousity, most would be intrigued enough to find out more about HeadOn on their own. Once finding out it's actualy use (to relieve headaches), one might actually go out and purchase one. I'd even imagine several people have gone straight to WalMart and picked up a tube of HeadOn just out of curiousity!

I tip my hat to the advertising genius behind the HeadOn commercials.

Another good thing about the HeadOn commercial is that it has spawned a couple parodies that I think are hillarious.

Don't rub too hard:

Barry Bonds loves it:

Jimmy Kimmel Live:

The Daily Show:

And my personal favorite:

Here is a segment on NBC's Nightly News regarding this commercial:

Yay for HeadOn!

I'm Back!... I think?

So I mean, I really want to Blog. I feel guilty everytime I open up my browser because my home page is set to http://insidecy.blogspot.com... so every time I open my browser, I feel like a complete loser for not maintaining this thing. So here I go again, trying to keep up with it.

There's a lot to catch up on, so I'll fill yall in slowly as the days go by.

Here Am I Send Me Conference

This conference at the beginning of July was amazing. It was held at UCLA for four awe-inspiring days of classes and fellowship focused on building the Kingdom of God through our campus and teen ministries. There was an incredible concert on Friday night featuring a great singer/songwriter by the name of John Augustine. On Sunday we had the entire Los Angeles Church congregational service at the Shrine Auditorium. You can find out more about the conference at HereAmISendMe.net. Here are some pictures...
